About this Blog

Photography is meant to be enjoyed by all and I love the thrill I receive, when people tell me that they enjoy my work. I want my works to brighten people's day, just like how they brighten my own. I want people to know the photo, the story behind it, and to come to their own conclusions as to what message it gives them.
A picture is worth a thousand words, and a thousand words can convey millions of different messages.
I leave you with this thought, and my pictures. Inspire yourselves, and let me know what you think. Cheers!

Light in the Dark

The lanterns hanging outside BSC for Deepavali this year are truly amazing, especially at night. Fortunately I had my camera with me to snap some shots of them as they blew in the wind. What a wonderful sight it was.

Wishing all of you, especially my Hindu friends, a Happy Deepavali.

Chasing Cars

Lets waste time chasing cars, around our head.

This photograph is a long exposure photograph of Solaris Mont Kiara on a Saturday night. I've always had a thing for long exposure photography, and this was one of the rare opportunities I had to practice it. Taken with my Canon SX10 IS

Defining Lara Price

As a project for our class noticeboard, all students were required to draw a caricature/take a picture of a classmate. My muse was a girl named Lara Price. Being an avid lover of photography, my mission was to interpret Lara's personality through photography. In the end, my choices boiled down to these three photos:

Lara Take #1 - A black and white portrait photograph of Lara, with an increase in brightness, compared to the original.

Lara Take #2 - A landscape photograph of Lara with a yellow tint and a glow.

Lara Take #3 - My final decision, a landscape photograph of Lara with a sepia tone.

My interpretation of Take 3 is that the subject, Lara, smiles candidly to show a genuine personality - which is accentuated by the sepia tone that shows warmth. The monochromatic colour scheme alludes to the fact that she is easy to understand and get along with. The subject's position in the photograph makes reference to the fact she is soft-spoken, and her outward gaze is a reference to her determination and active participation in the community.

This project with Lara has inspired me to come up with a collection of photographs, where I plan on depicting a person's personality through photography. More pictures to come soon...when I'm not as swamped with work.

The Golden Years

Yesterday, my dad celebrated his 50th Birthday. The picture above was taken a year ago as he was standing right in front of the place of his birth - House Number 77 (as he calls it). Wishing my dad a very Happy Birthday, and many more wonderful years to come. Taken with my Canon SX 10IS in Ipoh, Perak - he doesn't look 50, doesn't he?

Face of Summer

This is my first post in a very long time as I have been on my summer holidays. Therefore, I decided to dedicate my most recent self-portrait to the summer break. My pair of sunglasses are a reference to the sun, which is essentially right at the centre of the season and of the holidays - while the expressionless face is a reference to rest and relaxation. This self-portrait of mine was taken with my Ricoh R8.

Cheers,

An Evening like This

Evenings like this are great opportunities for me. The light shines through the curtains like bright gold shafts. If I bring out my camera and I'm lucky, I can capture some great shots, like this one of a vase in my living room. I took this picture with my Ricoh R8.

Chasing Waterfalls

Don't go chasing waterfalls, please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to. I know that you're gonna have it your way or nothing at all - but I think you're moving too fast.
A picture, taken with my Ricoh R8, and inspired by this awesome song by TLC.

Give it 2 Me

Don't stop me now, don't need to catch my breath - I can go on and on and on. Give it to me, no one's gonna show me how.
The theme of addiction, photographed with my Canon SX10 IS. Inspired by Madonna's song.

Brianand and Picasso

This picture was inspired by the recent 'Pink Panther' style art theft in Paris recently, whereby €100 million worth of art - including works by Picasso and Matisse were stolen. The backdrop used is a Picasso piece entitled 'Le Pigeon aux petit pois'- which hangs in my room. Taken with the Canon SX10 IS.

Searching my Soul

One by one, the chains around me unwind. Every day now I feel that I can leave those years behind.
I've been searchin' my soul tonight, I know there's so much more to life. Now I know I can shine a light to find my way back home. Taken with my Canon SX10 IS. Kudos to Hanis for helping me.

What is Truth?

Truth is like light. Without it you are in a dark world, which you then start imagine is in your head - however when it shines, you find out that the figment of your imagination you thought you were living in, is far fetched from the real world - for better or for worse.

Le Chien est Malade

Today, my dog fell ill. Nonetheless, I took the opportunity to snap some pictures of it as it would not move about, making it easy for me to capture a few good shots. This one is probably my favourite, an ambiguous looking fur ball perched atop a chair. This picture was taken with my Ricoh R8.

The Tree and the Wind

This is a connection, between the wind that blows, gentle and mild, and the hard and stable tree strongly rooted in the ground. Together, they made this beautiful picture - a long exposure photograph taken with my Ricoh R8 when I was going for a walk.

The Goldfish Cloud

It was Easter last Sunday and there was no time for revision. Instead, I took my camera out, attempting to take a few good shots. Indeed, I did. This picture is nothing fancy, just a simple cloud over a building, but look closer and you'll find out there's more to it than you think. Taken with my Ricoh R8.

All Eyes on You

I took this picture when I was walking back to school from a Plaza nearby. I had originally perceived it to be a fail due to its blurriness, however when I had uploaded into my computer, my perception changed completely upon noticing the black gem. Taken with my Ricoh R8.

Crystal Balls

I was reviewing my physics paper a minute ago, and I got all the god-damn light related questions wrong. Just when I thought that the whole topic of light was a pain in the ass, I stumbled upon this picture. Indeed, light is beautiful. A photograph taken with my Ricoh R8.

Who's That Girl?

Behind that hand and the hair, is a girl. Just like any other ordinary girl, she has a name, she goes to school, she is of a certain age and has her own teenage life story. Anyone care to guess more? Taken with my Canon SX10 IS.

Loosing Leaves

Hopefully I will be able to 'hibernate' this weekend where I will be able to catch up on all that much needed sleep. I took this picture with my Ricoh R8 when I was on holiday in Adelaide, Australia - right in the middle of winter.

Paradigm Shift

Does this look like a decorative element which gives our gardens that nice fresh feeling, or traps filled with blades that are capable of hurting or piercing ? Go on, you decide. This picture was taken with my Ricoh R8.

A Bittersweet Symphony

I was inspired to take this picture after listening to the song called Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve. Truly, this life is a bittersweet symphony, trying to make ends meet, trying to find some money then you die. Taken with my Ricoh R8.

An Old Winding Road

Lake Gardens is known as Kuala Lumpur's version of Central Park. I however, beg to differ. Environmental activists should get their ass over here to see for themselves. They'll be in for one hell of a shock. Taken with my Ricoh R8.

The Tower's Side

If it weren't for the title, I would have probably told you that it was some yellow coloured gem and you would probably believe it. But no, this is one of the Petronas Twin-Towers from the side up. Taken with my Ricoh R8.

Lost

I just got lost
Every river that I've tried to cross
And every door I ever tried was locked
Ooh-Oh, And I'm just waiting till the shine wears off...Taken with my Canon SX10 IS.

A Silver Lining

One of my best friends named Visha Thamboo inspired me to take this photo. Despite her move to Brasil, she never fails to look at the brighter side of life. She is one of the most optimistic people I know and therefore I dedicate this picture to her.

An Angelic Guardian

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day, be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen. This long exposure photograph was taken in my cousin's room with my Canon SX10 IS.

City of Blinding Lights

The more you see, the less you know, the less you find out as you go. I knew much more then than I do now. Neon heart day-glow eyes, a city lit by fireflies. They're advertising in the skies for people like us. Oh you look so beautiful tonight in the city of blinding lights.
